Quality Levels
Overview
Every piece of equipment has a quality level that determines its stat bonus on top of the base item stats. Quality ranges from Normal (worst) to Super (best), and upgrading quality is one of the most impactful ways to increase your character's power.
Quality Tiers
| Quality | ID Value | Stat Bonus | Visual Indicator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed | 0 | Base stats only | White name |
| Normal | 2–5 | Base stats only | White name |
| Refined | 6 | ~+5% stats | Light highlight |
| Unique | 7 | ~+15% stats | Blue glow |
| Elite | 8 | ~+30% stats | Purple glow |
| Super | 9 | ~+50% stats | Gold glow |
How Quality Affects Item ID
Quality is encoded in the last digit of the item's ID number:
- Item base ID:
ItemID - (ItemID % 10) - Quality digit:
ItemID % 10 - Items with quality below 5 jump directly to Refined (6) when first upgraded
- Example: Blade ID
410006(Refined) →410007(Unique)
Upgrade Methods
Method 1: DragonBalls (Chance-based)
Each DragonBall upgrade attempt consumes 1 DragonBall with a chance of success. The DragonBall is always consumed whether it succeeds or fails.
| Current Quality | Success Chance Penalty |
|---|---|
| Normal (0–5) | Base chance: 100 - (ItemLevel / 3) |
| Refined (6) | Base chance minus 25% |
| Unique (7) | Base chance minus 40% |
| Elite (8) | Base chance minus 70% |
On failure, the item's durability is reduced but the item is not destroyed. On success, quality increments by 1 (items below quality 5 jump to Refined directly).
Method 2: Forge Materials (Tempering NPC)
The Tempering NPC upgrades quality using Forge Materials. Items must be quality 3–8 (cannot temper to Super from below quality 3):
| Current Quality | Forge Materials Cost |
|---|---|
| Normal (0–4) | 100 per step |
| Normal (5) → Refined | 10,000 |
| Refined (6) → Unique | 100,000 |
| Unique (7) → Elite | 500,000 |
| Elite (8) → Super | 1,000,000 |
Quality and Meteor Costs
Higher quality items get significant discounts on level upgrades:
| Quality | Meteor Cost Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Normal | 100% (full cost) |
| Refined | 90% |
| Unique | 70% |
| Elite | 30% |
| Super | 10% |
Strategy: Upgrade Quality Before Level
Because Super quality items only cost 10% of the normal meteor amount for level upgrades, it's far more efficient to upgrade quality first, then level.
Warning
DragonBall upgrades use 1 DB per attempt with a chance of failure. Higher quality and higher level items have lower success rates. Failed attempts still consume the DragonBall and reduce item durability.
