Upgrading
Overview
Upgrading is one of the most important systems in Forge Conquer Online. There are two main upgrade paths: Level Upgrades (using Meteors) to raise an item's level tier, and Quality Upgrades (using DragonBalls or Forge Materials) to increase the quality grade. Both directly increase your equipment's power.
Level Upgrading (Meteors)
Level upgrades raise your item to a higher level tier, significantly increasing base stats. You use Meteors (ID 1088000) or Meteor Scrolls (ID 1088001, worth 10 Meteors each).
How Meteor Costs Work
The meteor cost uses an intermediate value from a lookup table, then applies a formula: Final Cost = (100 / intermediate + 1) × 12 / 10. Quality discounts are applied to the intermediate value before the formula. The result is that actual meteor counts are much lower than the raw table values.
Quality Discount on Meteor Costs
Higher quality items require fewer meteors to level up:
| Item Quality | Cost Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Normal | 100% (full cost) |
| Refined | 90% of base |
| Unique | 70% of base |
| Elite | 30% of base |
| Super | 10% of base |
Success Rate
- If you provide enough Meteors to meet the full cost: 100% success
- If you provide fewer Meteors: success chance =
(Meteors Used / Cost) × 100%
Tip
Always provide enough meteors for 100% success rate. Failing a level upgrade wastes all the meteors you used. Super quality items only need 10% of the base cost — upgrade quality first!
Quality Upgrading (DragonBalls)
Quality upgrades move your item up the quality scale: Normal → Refined → Unique → Elite → Super.
Important: DragonBall Mechanics
Each DragonBall attempt uses 1 DragonBall with a chance of success. The DragonBall is always consumed whether it succeeds or fails.
| Current Quality | Success Chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Normal (0–5) | 100 - (ItemLevel / 3) | Jumps directly to Refined (6) on success |
| Refined (6) | Base chance minus 25% | Upgrades to Unique (7) |
| Unique (7) | Base chance minus 40% | Upgrades to Elite (8) |
| Elite (8) | Base chance minus 70% | Upgrades to Super (9) |
On failure, the item's durability is reduced but the item is not destroyed. Higher-level items have lower base success chance since the formula subtracts ItemLevel / 3.
Alternative: Forge Materials (Tempering NPC)
The Tempering NPC offers guaranteed quality upgrades using Forge Materials. See the Dragon Forge article for details.
Equipment Max Levels
| Equipment Type | Max Level |
|---|---|
| Weapons (Right/Left) | 140 |
| Head / Armor | 140 |
| Necklace | 139 |
| Ring | 136 |
| Boots | 129 |
| Talisman (Fan/Tower) | 100 |
Strategy
Upgrade quality to Super first using Forge Materials at the Tempering NPC, then level up with Meteors. A Super item costs only 10% of the normal meteor requirement — this saves massive amounts of Meteors over the long run.
